[LG TV] Discover Various Features with Standby Mode

What is Standby Mode?

• Standby mode provides various services through the TV even when you are not watching it.
• When you set the standby mode function and turn off the TV with the remote control after watching, standby mode will be activated.
• Even when standby mode is activated, you can use voice recognition or output sound from smart devices through the TV speakers.
• You can also turn on the device using the voice recognition function of an external AI speaker connected to the TV.
• If you select to use standby mode without a background screen, you can use standby mode without displaying a background screen.
• To exit standby mode and turn on the TV, follow these steps:
  When the screen is on in standby mode, press the home button or the back button on the remote control.
  When the screen is off in standby mode, press the power button on the AI remote control to turn on the device.
• If you do not need to use standby mode, disable the function in the settings below.

Screens You Can Set in Standby Mode

You can change the type of standby mode using the magic remote on the left side of the screen and configure detailed settings for each standby mode through the menu at the top right.

Information: You can display the time and weather information for the region set on the device.
If you select briefing, you can additionally display sports game information, connected IoT device information, and viewing reservation lists.
The weather is displayed based on the region set in Settings → All Settings → General → System → Region Settings → Weather Region Settings.

Art: You can download and set works such as modern art and landscapes as the background screen.

Movement: You can download and set works with movement as the background screen.

Moments: You can set photos stored on connected external devices, smart devices connected via LG ThinQ, or Google Photos as the background screen.

Sound Palette: You can play mood music from the built-in memory or music from devices connected via Bluetooth or USB.

How to Set Standby Mode

Supported from 2022 models.
[All Settings] → [General] → [Standby Mode] → [Use Function]

Example of 2024 webOS24 TV

Select the standby mode app from the home screen that appears when you press the home button on the remote control.

You can use standby mode through the TV's settings menu.

Press the settings button on the remote control. When it appears in the quick menu, select the [All Settings] icon using the pointer or direction keys on the remote control.

Select the General menu.

Select Standby Mode.

Select Use Function.

Standby mode will be activated when you turn off the power with the remote control.

• The TV on/off function of the AI speaker may not be supported depending on the function support of the AI speaker.
• The standby mode and direct voice recognition functions vary depending on the TV model. Check the user manual to see if your TV supports these functions.
• Energy consumption may increase during standby mode.
• To use voice recognition in standby mode, go to Settings → All Settings → General → AI Service → Voice Recognition Settings and set Direct Voice Recognition to On.
• Standby mode will not be activated if the power cord is unplugged from the outlet.
