[LG Refrigerator] How to solve non-plumbed refrigerator ice/water problems

Water tank maintenance

• Please only use spring water/filtered water to fill the water tank. During refilling or usage, particles from the external environment may land up in the water tank, so please ensure the tank and its internal components are cleaned once a week.
• Even when filtered water is used, foreign particles may occur if the ice usage is very low or if the water tank is not cleaned.
• After separating the water tank, lid, and internal parts, clean them thoroughly with lukewarm water.
• If the water tank is not cleaned, it may not be hygienic due to water stains, etc.
• Using beverages with food additives like sugar (e.g. juice, cola, etc.) in place of filtered water, may lead to particle appearance or malfunctions due to the food additives.

※ Non-Plumbing : Instead of directly connecting water to the refrigerator for automatic supply, this involves manually refilling the water tank installed in the refrigerator's compartment with drinking water (filtered / spring water). The supplied drinking water in the tank is then used for automatic ice making (In Door Ice) and providing water through the dispenser.

Is the icemaker off?

? Cause

If the icemaker switch is turned OFF, ice will not be made.

? How to solve

Set the icemaker switch to ON to operate the icemaker.
First, if the ‘Lock’ button or lock icon is turned on, disable it by pressing the button or icon for three seconds.
Once it has been unlocked, you can press the Ice On/Off button to operate the icemaker.

Is ice not being made after the initial 3 to 4 days from installation?

After installation, it typically takes 12 hours to 2 days for the first ice to be made.
The time taken varies depending on the temperature of the food in the freezer.
It takes about 2 to 3 days for the ice to form and fill up the ice bin.

※ If ice is not produced after the initial 3 to 4 days, product inspection is necessary. Please contact customer support in such case.

Are the ice cubes gathering in one spot?

? Causes

If ice in the ice bin remains unused for a long time, the ice may shrink or stick together, causing the ice to not be dispensed.
This happens because parts of the ice evaporate into liquid and the liquid causes adjacent ice to stick together - simply a natural occurrence.

? How to solve

If the ice is stuck together, take out the ice bin and shake it to separate the clumped ice.
If ice clumps do not separate even after shaking the ice bin, dispose the ice. Then clean the ice bin and use it after it has been completely dried.
(Leaving the door open for a long time or placing the ice bin outside the freezer may cause the ice to melt and stick together.)

Does the dispenser drip after dispensing water?

• After dispensing water, a few droplets of water may drip.
  It is a similar occurrence to how water droplets fall when closing a tap after usage.
  If you wait for about a second after dispensing water into your glass, residual drops won’t come out.

Does the dispenser drip after dispensing ice?

• After dispensing ice, residual ice remaining in the outlet where the ice comes out can melt, causing a few water droplets to fall.
• When dispensing cubed ice, the ice may spill or bounce out of the cup. Therefore, it is advised to use a wider-mouthed cup or position the cup closer to the ice dispenser.

? Cause

Due to minerals in the water, white mineral deposits may form when water evaporates or freezes.
This phenomenon is similar to what occurs when heating or freezing mineral-rich spring water.

? How to solve

When you see white residue on the water outlet of the refrigerator's dispenser, please clean it before use.
It is simply leftover minerals from evaporated filtered water visible as white residue. Wiping the outlet with a clean cloth will do.
