    LG Monitors – Troubleshooting No Audio or Low Volume

    At a Glance

    If your LG monitor speakers are not working, it can be caused by the configuration settings being incorrect, or due to a loose cable. This is normally resolved by checking the cable connections, adjusting volume levels, or reconfiguring the sound settings.

    Note

    Not all LG monitors include built-in speakers. It is recommended to check the specifications of your specific LG Monitor for effective troubleshooting.

    Try This

    1. Select Your OS:

      windows
      Windows
      MAc
      Mac OS
    2. Select Your Connection Type

      HDMI DVI USB Display Port Thunderbolt Audio Jack
    3. Select Your Connection Type

      1. Check the correct playback device is selected

        1 Disconnect and reconnect the cable between the monitor and connected device.

        2 Click speaker to open the sound device menu.

        3 Select up arrows to open the [Select Playback Device] list to see the available device.

        4 Click on the desired sound device and ensure the volume is up on the monitor and connected device, then retry.

      2. Restart the computer

        1 select windows icon

        2 Select [Restart] from the dropdown list.

        3 Once the computer has restarted, retry playing audio.

      3. Replace the cable

        1Turn off the monitor and external devices.

        2Swap out the HDMI cable .

        3Power on the monitor and external device and retry.

    4. DVI (Digital Visual Interface) DOES NOT transmit audio. In order to get audio from an applicable LG Monitors, you will need to connect via another method.

      1. Check the correct playback device is selected

        1 Disconnect and reconnect the cable between the monitor and connected device.

        2 Go to the Apple menu and select [System Preferences].

        3 Select [Sound].

        4 Select the [Output Tab], then select the desired sound output device.

        5 Ensure the volume level is turned up and the [Mute] box is unchecked.

      2. Restart the Computer

        1Open the Apple Menu.

        2Select [Restart] from the dropdown list.

        3Once the computer has restarted, retry playing audio.
